What is Coaching?
Coaching is a creative process, where-by a coach and a willing individual (coachee) work in a collaborative alliance to maximize personal and professional potential. Coaching connects with people at a deep personal level, using a coachee’s beliefs, values and vision to achieve extraordinary results.
Coaching can inspire individuals to maximize their personal and professional potential. Coaches recognises that you are the expert in your life and your work and appreciate that clients are creative, resourceful and whole and with the proper support they are able to resolve their obstacles.
Coaches inspire clients towards the life they want by using powerful and thought-provoking questions. This helps clients to increases their self-awareness, to maximize the utility of their resources, to gain an expended perspective on their life and relationships, and to realize a future full of new possibilities.
Standing on this foundation, coaches will:
- Discover, clarify, and align with what a client wants to achieve
- Encourage a client's self-discovery
- Elicit solutions and strategies generated by the client
- Hold the client responsible and accountable
What Coaching is not:
Coaches are not personal consultants, personal trainers, therapists, life managers, ministers, gurus or experts in your life. The power of coaching exists in the relationship between a coach and a coachee.
Why choose Coaching?
People are often stressed out and feel stuck in a rut. The future looks cloudy and all roads seem to lead to nowhere. People experience confusion about what’s next for them, what direction they want to take. When this happens, most people need help finding their passion, mission or their life purpose.
Coaching helps people:
- Achieve the next level when they hit a plateau;
- Become more focused, disciplined, calm or collected;
- Determine next steps, next actions or find their motivation;
- Be a better leader, colleague, friend or teammate;
- Better manage their team, their time, and their life.
A coach can help you create a clear picture of your desired future, shed light on your internal and external resources, establish your next steps and harden your commitments towards getting the life you want.
"Some people want it to happen, some wish it would happen,others make it happen."
- Michael Jordan
What can I expect?
Usually, with Coaching Ottawa, the Coach will work with the Coachee for three to six months to increase his/her performance. The Coach meets with the Coachee 2-3 times a month for approximately 45 minutes each session. Coaching is done by phone, by Skype or in person.
Am I Ready for Coaching?
If coaching is going to be effective you must be ready to be a partner in the process. This means you need to be ready to:
Make your coaching session a priority in your schedule;
- Come to session prepared with what you want to discuss
- Commit to complete your action plans after each session;
- Experiment with new approaches and behaviours; and
- Determine and commit to goals that are meaningful to you.
This is a personal investment of your resources and it demands your best work. If you aren’t doing your best, you won’t receive the full benefit of coaching.
"If you really want to do something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse."
- Jim Rohn
